The four largest stone industry areas are Laizhou in Shandong, Yunfu in Guangdong, Nan'an in Fujian, and Ya'an in Sichuan, all of which have considerable international influence and are resource dependent and non resource dependent industrial areas.
According to the internal and external conditions of reliance, China's stone industry areas can be divided into resource dependent and market dependent (i.e. non resource dependent) types. Most of the stone industry areas in China are resource-based, with a few being market based. Among them, Laizhou in Shandong is a representative of resource dependent type, while Nan'an in Fujian and Yunfu in Guangdong are representatives of non resource dependent type.
According to the main products produced, China's stone industry areas can be divided into three types: marble and granite decorative stone, stone carving, and slate. Most of the stone industry areas in Shuitou, Laizhou, Yunfu, etc. mainly produce marble and granite decorative stones. Huian and Quyang mainly produce stone carvings, while Yixian and Ziyang mainly produce slate.
1. Laizhou, Shandong
Currently, Laizhou has over 2200 stone enterprises, and the output value of Laizhou's stone industry accounts for 18% of the city's GDP. Laizhou has abundant reserves of stone materials, with a wide variety and excellent texture. It mainly produces more than 20 types of stone materials, with granite being the main one.
Among them, Xiaqiu Town is the most important gathering area for the stone industry in Laizhou City, with more than 1300 stone enterprises in the town. The annual output value of the stone industry exceeds 5 billion yuan, with an annual processing area of 6 million square meters of slabs and 150000 pieces of anisotropic carvings. The products cover more than 100 varieties such as marble and granite. Laizhou has been awarded the title of "China Stone Capital" by the China Stone Industry Association.
2. Fujian Stone Industry area
Fujian, as the largest stone production province in China, has over 10000 stone enterprises, more than 5000 stone import and export trading enterprises, and multiple stone industry areas. The production capacity of sheet metal exceeds 100 million square meters. Among them, there are large-scale stone areas including Nan'an City, Huian County, Anxi County, Jinjiang City under Quanzhou City, Fuding City under Ningde City, Luoyuan County under Fuzhou City, and Xiamen City. Quanzhou City is the center of the stone industry in Fujian Province, and its subordinate Shuitou Town and Huian County have become the most influential stone industry areas.
Fujian's stone exports have long been ranked first in the country, with export value accounting for nearly half of the national total. As the largest port for the import and export of Chinese stone, Xiamen Port ranks first in the world in terms of stone import and export volume.
Nan'an City has become the largest and most comprehensive stone production and export base in China. Nan'an City has a stone processing capacity of over 50 million square meters and holds more than half of the market share in Fujian Province.

3. Yunfu, Guangdong
Guangdong Yunfu is one of the main production areas of granite and marble in China, famous for its processing of imported raw materials. The annual output of Yunfu stone is about 15 million square meters. It is also the second largest stone export base in China. The total output value of Yunfu Stone Industry accounts for 20% of the city's GDP. At present, it has formed 13 series, 23 categories, and more than 1000 varieties of colors, including marble, granite, recycled stone decorative panels, stone furniture, and stone handicrafts. It is the largest stone product distribution center in South China and was rated as the "China Stone Base Center" and "China Stone Circulation Demonstration Base" in 2003. Among them, Guangdong Yunfu Stone has the advantage of using marble and jade as the main materials, with a focus on sheet materials
4. Baoxing, Sichuan
Baoxing County is located in the northern part of Ya'an City, with more than 30 precious stone varieties mainly composed of granite, such as "Baoxing White", "Blue and White White", "Blue and White Grey" marble, and "China Green", "Baoxing Ink Crystal", "Caihua Yellow", "Jade Green", etc., with abundant reserves. Baoxing White is renowned for its abundant reserves, flawless whiteness, delicate texture, strong bending resistance, high hardness, and high yield rate. It is also known as the "Number One White in the World" along with Italian "Carrara White". In recent years, the stone industry has developed into a pillar industry of Baoxing. Among them, Sichuan Hanlong Stone Co., Ltd. is one of the larger stone enterprises in the county. The annual output is about 9 million square meters.
