Does granite crack with heat

Granite is a durable and sturdy natural stone that can withstand a large amount of wear and tear. Generally speaking, granite does not crack when heated. This is because granite is formed by cooling and solidifying magma or lava, which means it has been exposed to incredible high temperatures.

However, it should be noted that extreme and sudden changes in temperature can cause granite to crack or fracture. For example, if a hot pot is placed directly on a cold granite countertop, the granite may crack due to the rapid expansion and contraction of the stone.

To prevent granite from cracking due to heat, it is important to take preventive measures, such as using coasters and tripods to protect your countertop and surface. Always let the granite cool slowly to avoid exposure to sudden temperature changes. With appropriate care and maintenance, your granite surface should remain sturdy and durable for the next few years.
