How to install granite tiles on floor

Granite tiles are a popular choice for flooring due to their durability and sophisticated appearance. Installing granite tiles on a floor may seem intimidating, but with the right tools and steps, it can be a straightforward process. Here are the steps to follow when installing granite tiles on a floor.

1. Prepare the Subfloor
Before installing the granite tiles, make sure the subfloor is level and clean. Remove any debris, dirt, or existing flooring materials. If there are cracks or uneven surfaces, use self-leveling concrete to even out the floor.

2. Measure and Plan
Measure the room and calculate how many tiles you need to cover the area. Layout the tiles to determine the best pattern and orientation. Make sure to leave at least a 1/8 inch gap between each tile for grouting.

3. Apply the Adhesive
Apply a thin layer of adhesive on the subfloor using a notched trowel. Start at one end of the room and work in sections, applying only enough adhesive for a few tiles at a time. Make sure the adhesive is evenly spread and comb the adhesive with the notched trowel to ensure a strong bond.

4. Lay the Tiles
Lay the tiles onto the adhesive, pressing down firmly to ensure they are level and secure. Use a level to check that each tile is even with the surrounding tiles. If necessary, adjust the tiles by tapping them gently with a rubber mallet.

5. Grout the Tiles
Once the adhesive has dried, apply grout between the tiles using a rubber float. Push the grout into the gaps between the tiles, making sure to fill every space. Wipe away any excess grout with a damp sponge and let it dry for at least 24 hours.

6. Seal the Tiles
Usually before the shipment, we normally seal the tiles according to the client's request. If no sealing, then seal the granite tiles with a granite sealer to protect them from stains and scratches at jobsite. Follow the instructions on the sealer for application and drying time.
