Step 1: Turn Off the Water

The first step to removing a vanity top is to turn off the water supply lines. There should be two valves attached to the pipes underneath the sink. Turn both of these valves to the right until they are fully closed.

Step 2: Disconnect the Drain

Next, you'll need to disconnect the drain from the sink. Look underneath the sink to locate the drain pipes, and use a wrench to loosen the nuts holding the pipes in place. Once both pipes are disconnected, remove the pop-up drain from the sink by loosening the setscrew.

Step 3: Remove the Backsplash

Most bathroom vanities come with a backsplash that is attached to the vanity top. Use a putty knife to gently pry the backsplash away from the wall. If there is adhesive holding the backsplash in place, use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Remove the Vanity Top

Once the backsplash is removed, you can start removing the vanity top. Use a utility knife to cut any caulking or adhesive holding the vanity top in place. Then, locate the screws that are holding the vanity top in place and remove them. Gently lift the vanity top off the vanity, and set it aside.

By following these simple steps, you can easily remove a vanity top without any negative outcomes.
