How to seal granite floor tiles

If you have recently installed granite floor tiles or have an older installation that needs to be resealed, it's important to understand the process of sealing granite in order to protect it from dirt, stains and liquid spills. Sealing your granite floor tiles can also help to retain its natural beauty and shine.

Here are the steps to seal your granite floor tiles:

Step 1: Clean the surface- Wipe the granite tiles with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dust, dirt or debris. Use a mild soap solution for deeper cleaning.

Step 2: Apply the sealer- Choose a sealer that conforms to the needs of your granite floor tiles. You can apply the sealer using a clean cloth or a roller, by starting at one corner of the room and working your way across.

Step 3: Wait- Allow the sealer to dry completely before moving anything onto the floor tiles. This process usually takes around 4 to 6 hours, so be patient.

Step 4: Test for moisture- After the sealer has dried, it is important to test the surface to see if it is still absorbing moisture. Apply a small amount of water to the floor tiles and wait for five minutes. If the water beads up on the tile's surface, then it is effectively sealed.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your granite floor tiles are well-protected and maintain their beauty for a long time. Remember to repeat the sealing process every few years to keep your granite tiles looking their best.
