Marble is not "made" by people, it is a natural stone formed inside the Earth.
- It Starts as Limestone: Deep underground, there is a common stone called limestone.
- Heat and Pressure: When the Earth's crust moves, the limestone is subjected to extreme heat and enormous pressure.
- Transformation: This heat and pressure causes the limestone to change its structure and recrystallize. This process is called metamorphism.
- The Result is Marble: After this transformation, the limestone becomes the much harder, denser, and beautifully patterned stone we call marble.
From Quarry to Customer:
- Quarrying: Large blocks of marble are cut from the earth using specialized machines like diamond wire saws.
- Block Cutting: These raw blocks are transported to a factory and cut into slabs or tiles using giant gang saws or block cutters.
- Finishing & Fabrication: The slabs are polished to a smooth finish. Finally, they are precisely cut and shaped according to the customer's specific design requirements for their project.
In short: Marble is limestone that was "cooked" and squeezed by the Earth over millions of years.
The different colors and veins in marble come from other minerals (like clay, silt, or iron oxides) that were mixed in with the original limestone.
